Snetterton plays host to BRSCC season finale

Several championships to be decided in Norfolk this weekend

Az Edwards

19/10/2009 - This weekend (24/25 October), Snetterton will be hosting its penultimate race meeting of 2009: the BRSCC season finale, where a number of titles are still to be decided.

The British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) is one of the foremost racing clubs in the UK and this weekend seven of the club's categories will be competing at Snetterton.

Kick-starting the track action is the Race.tv Open Sportscar Series. The championship pits a host of small and large-engined prototype sports cars against each other. This leads to some of the most eclectic grids in British sportscar racing, with Pilbeams, Junos, Caterhams and Chirons among the vehicles to be competing this weekend.

The closest racing of the day is likely to come from the ever-exciting Formula Jedi series, where the top five drivers in the championship are within ten points of each other. The series features single-seater cars that are powered by a motorcycle engine and offers one of the easiest routes for drivers to experience 'slicks and wings' racing, due to the low-cost nature of the series. Richard Mitcham currently holds a six point advantage over the chasing pack, but Andrew Ward, Stuart Abbott, Jack Smith and Daniel Cook are all still in with a chance of taking the title.

In the LMA Euro Saloon & Sports Car Championship, Brett Walter leads the way in his Renault having secured eight wins this season. Andy Harvey's Subaru is Walter's only threat for the overall title.

The weekend's racing also features four different Caterham series including the Power Torque Caterham Superlight R300 Championship and the Avon Tyres Caterham Superlisght R400 Championship.

The BRSCC season finale is at Snetterton this weekend, 24/25 October. Advance adult tickets cost £10 with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
