Drive Oulton Park this weekend - Nov 6/7

Full day of activity for Oulton Park visitors this weekend

03/11/2004 - Oulton Park will be invaded this weekend by visitors wanting to take part in the Cheshire circuit's driving activities.

Oulton Park's Race Master course will be running on Sunday, offering an experience for the track's thrill-seeking visitors.

Race Masters provides visitors with a unique opportunity to drive a bonafide single-seater racing car around the famous circuit, as well as one of the course's MG ZR road cars.

The Race Master consists of two driving session of approximately 15 minutes each on the Fosters circuit at Oulton Park in groups of 10 to 14 drivers.

After an initial group briefing covering driving technique, racing lines and safety procedures the pupils will embark on their first session with an instructor who will teach them the fastest and safest way around the track.

After the first session the pupils return to the pits where they swap places with their instructor for a high-speed demonstration lap to illustrate the performance of the MG.

On returning to the pit lane, each driver will receive a personal assessment by their instructor before moving on to be briefed on the single seater formula 3 based racing car.

All participants need to have held their Driving licence for at least a year and be between the heights of 5ft2 to 6ft2 and weigh less than 16 stone.

There is also the Young Driver course running this weekend, which gives the participants a briefing before they are taught some of the elements of a first driving lesson such as clutch control, moving away, stopping and changing gear. Pupils will also get to tackle a simulated urban layout within the controlled environment of the paddock driving a fully duel controlled MG ZR.

There is no age limit for this activity however all drivers taking part need to be between the heights of 4'10" and 6'7" and weigh no more than 18 stone.

Whilst the Sprint Master lets visitors get behind the wheel of Britain's most raced car- the Caterham 7 and be taught how to do powerslides and test the car to its limits around the Fosters Circuit.

This weekend's Sprint Master and Young Driver courses have already sold out but there are still places available on the Race Master course.

Anyone interested in taking part in any of the Oulton Park activity days can find all the information they need by calling the hotline on 0870 850 5015 between 9am and 5-30pm.
