Oulton Park Novice Trackday with Bike Magazine
@ £159.00

Oulton Park

Tuesday 16 September 2008

THIS EVENT IS STRICTLY FOR NOVICES ONLY. EXPERIENCED RIDERS WHO BOOK INTO THIS EVENT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE AND WILL NOT BE OFFERED A REFUND.

FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT – TYPICALLY WE CATEGORISE A NOVICE TRACKDAY RIDER AS SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE LESS THAN 3 TRACKDAYS BEFORE BUT IF YOU ARE UNSURE AS TO WHETHER OR NOT YOU FALL INTO THIS CATEGORY THEN CALL US ON 0870 850 5013.

We understand that your first trackday can be a daunting experience, so come and enjoy a day with other riders who are also new to circuit riding. Our new Novice Only Track days are designed exclusively for riders with no, or very limited, trackday experience. Oulton Park's diverse range of corners and straights is an ideal venue for any trackday novice.

Your day begins with signing on where your road licence will be checked and you’ll be issued with a wristband. Please arrive nice and early so that you have time to check over your bike, grab a bacon roll and have a chat with other riders before your safety briefing.

The half hour briefing covers everything you’ll need to know for your first day on circuit including the format of the event, tips on riding style and the circuit layout, plus the opportunity to ask our instructors any questions that you may have.

Your first time on circuit will be behind a pace bike at a limited speed and no overtaking, otherwise known as Ducks and Drakes. This session will give you a chance to get a feel for the circuit, the gradients of the corners, circuit layout, surface etc. The instructor bike leading the group will be riding on the racing line giving you an indication of where you should be position your bike on the circuit. Braking and apex cones will also be placed at each corner to help you improve your lines throughout the day.

After your Ducks and Drakes session all riders will come back into the pits until your next session. This gives you plenty of time to make any adjustments to your bike, as well as ask our instructors any further questions you may have.

When your second session begins, warm your tyres and start slowly, building up your pace lap by lap. A track day is not a race, but an opportunity to explore you and your bike’s performance in a safe and controlled environment. Remember you only have to go as fast as you want to. Our instructors will be on hand throughout the day ready to offer advice and one to one tuition on circuit if you wish (£25 for one session).

You will receive a total of seven * 20 minute sessions throughout the day.

In addition to all this, the Bike Magazine team will be here to meet everyone on the day and hand out Bike Magazine goody bags for every rider. These will include a latest copy of the mag amongst other things. They'll also be bringing their long term test fleet with some of the novices amongst the team venturing out for their first experience of circuit riding!

It is a common misconception that you need a high performance bike to take part. The reality is quite the opposite, as anyone can enjoy the thrill and excitement of a trackday. Once you have had your first taste I guarantee you will be back for more!

We look forward to seeing you here!

We have a noise limit of 102db at this event. A road bike with a standard / road legal exhaust should be under this limit but if you are unsure then please contact us to arrange a noise test.
