Snetterton

Snetterton has enjoyed a renaissance since MSV took over in 2004, with radically transformed spectator facilities and a busy racing calendar. One of the fastest tracks in the UK, the Norfolk circuit is located 10 miles north-east of Thetford on the A11.

First used as a racing circuit in 1951 by the Aston Martin Owner's Club, Snetterton has become renowned over the past half century for its long straights and high speed corners. Cars and bikes are often up to four abreast down the famous Revett Straight!

Highlights on the Norfolk circuit's calendar include annual visits from the British Superbike and British Touring Car Championships, and a double header meeting from the British Formula 3 and GT Championships. There are also two and four wheel club meetings most weekends during the season, with standout events including the Lotus Festival, the Citroen 2CV 24 hour race and the GT Trophy Night Race in October.

In addition to racing, Snetterton is a popular test track and has been used to develop a host of vehicles including the Williams JPH1 Formula Two car and various Le Mans machinery.

History of Snetterton

The first race meeting at Snetterton was arranged in 1951 by the Aston Martin Owner's Club. The track had been cobbled together from a network of runways, which formed the wartime base of the 96th US Air Force Bomber Group.

The circuit configuration has changed greatly since then, shortening a lap to just under two miles.

Most recently, a host of Le Mans 24 Hour cars have been developed at the Norfolk track, including Bentley’s first Le Mans car for 70 years, the EXP Speed Eight. The all-conquering Audi R8 and Williams BMW LMP were all spotted first at Snetterton.
