The Oulton Park Gold Cup is the north west's premier historic
race meeting, notable for attracting star names such as Sir
Stirling Moss in recent years. Featuring a huge entry of rare and
exotic historic cars, including single seaters, sports, touring and
saloons, each grid is worth a small fortune, although that doesn't
stop the drivers from producing superb racing on the classic 2.6
mile Oulton Park circuit!
Off track entertainment including demonstrations on the rally stages, classic car displays, trade stands and fairground rides, all giving the event a true family festival feel.
This year's running features the Super Touring Car Trophy for machines from 1970 to 1999, including the Super Touring Cars that saw the BTCC surge in popularity in the 1990s, with the cars running exactly as they did in period. It made its debut at this event to huge acclaim in 2013.

Super Touring Car TrophyA new series for 2013 open to all Touring Cars from the classic 1990s ‘Super Touring’ era, featuring guest drivers from that period including John Cleland and Patrick Watts.
Historic Road SportsCars from Lotus, Morgan and Alfa Romeo as well as many others compete in a battle for road-legal production Sports and GTs built and raced between 1947 and 1969. Extra points are awarded for driving the car to and from the circuit.
70s Road SportsThis series captures the essence of the 1970s with road-legal production and Sports GTs of the era competing for top honours. You can expect to see assorted Porsches, Jaguars and Lancias as well as a variety of other marques battling here.
Classic Formula 3Between 1971 and 1984 F3 was the ultimate proving ground for drivers including Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet and Jonathan Palmer to prove their single seater credentials. This series is a fitting tribute with Ralts, Chevrons and many other chassis.
Classic Racing CarsVariety is the name of the game as a myriad of single seaters from the 1960s take to the track. Iconic Lotus and Brabham single seaters from the pre-slicks and wings era compete on a grid that is far flung from contemporary single make series.
Derek Bell TrophyThis series of races sees historic single seater F2 and F5000 machines from the late sixties and seventies out ton circuit. This series pays homage to a time in which Peter Gethin and Jody Scheckter were still trying to make the final step into F1.
Jaguar E-type ChallengePossibly the prettiest one-make series active today. This category features strong grids of the evocative Jaguar E-type, racing at the country’s most high profile Historic events, such as the Brands Hatch Superprix and Oulton Park Gold Cup.
Historic Formula FordThis championship is open to any Formula Ford 1600 car built and raced before 1972. With a complete lack of aerodynamics, much of the speed is down to driver ability. The result is some of the most spectacular driving in historic single seaters.
Historic Formula Ford 2000This was the slicks and wings alternative to traditional Formula Ford in the 1970s. Tiff Needell, Tommy Byrne and the late David Leslie all cut their teeth in this form of racing and this illustrious past is represented by large grids.
Historic Formula JuniorThis was an early proving ground for future stars; existing between 1958 and 1963 this series nurtured the talent of Jim Clark! Despite their age these classically modelled single seaters still provide one of the fullest grids on the historic scene.
Guards TrophyThis event is for GT and Sportscars that raced internationally before 1966. Chevron B8s, Jaguar E-types, Lotus Elans and MGBs are only a handful of the models featured. Highly popular with the drivers this event is rarely anything other than full.
Historic Touring CarsThis championship is for saloon cars that were in production before 1966. Mini Coopers, Ford Anglia, Lotus Cortinas and many other cars will form a packed grid of cars eclectic as they are exciting. Expect to see them sideways from time to time!
Martini TrophyThis category is for the sports –prototypes which inhabited the European Sports Car Championship in the 1970s. With cars including the Chevron B16 set to feature, this category brings a true flavour of Le Mans to race meetings!
Classic ClubmansThese machines are front engine sportscars that have been active in this country since 1965. Despite the relative age of the cars, grid sizes remain large.
500cc F3 CarsThese lightweight single-seaters have become a staple of the historic and vintage racing scene, with their lack of power accounted for by their low weight and elbows-out driving! It was in this category that Sir Stirling Moss cut his teeth!
