Chris Levett clinches commanding second place

Gary Hawkins

01/11/2009 - Hexham haulier Stuart Oliver signed off a successful 2009 British Truck Racing Association Championship campaign by clinching his second victory of the weekend at Brands Hatch today (Sunday).

Oliver, who secured his ninth British title last time out at Pembrey, was pressured on the opening lap by the MAN ERF of Matt Summerfield. The pair went side-by-side through Paddock and Druids, before Oliver managed to edge ahead at Graham Hill Bend.

As Summerfield and Oliver battled at the front of the field, a charging Chris Levett passed David Jenkins for third place at Druids on lap three.

Levett then began to hunt down Summerfield and the pair became involved in a tense battle for second position. Following a nail-biting drag race through Paddock on lap five, Levett managed to pass Summerfield at Druids before turning his attention to Oliver's leading MAN. The Oldbury racer cut his Geordie rivals advantage to just half a second, but backmarker traffic on the final lap gave Oliver enough breathing space to take victory.

Summerfield's battle with Levett also cost him third place, as he lost momentum on the run into Graham Hill Bend, which allowed Jenkins' MAN through into the final podium spot.

Ricky Collett steered his MAN to a lonely fifth place, whilst Terry Gibbon was finally able to demonstrate his true abilities: following major crashes in qualifying and race one, he carved his way from the back of the field to clinch sixth position.

Carl Brookfield secured seventh ahead of guest driver Manuel Rodrigues in eighth.
