01/11/2009 - Dutchman Cees Zandbergen took a commanding victory in the second Class B race at the Brands Hatch Truck Superprix today (Sunday).
After scoring victory in race one at the Kent circuit yesterday, Zandbergen dominated proceedings in the second Class B outing by leading from lights to flag. However, as he streaked away a tense battle raged behind him for the remaining podium positions.
In the opening stages of the race, Ben Horne and Andy Lovenberry went head-to-head for third position until Lovenberry's Sisu dramatically spun into the gravel at Paddock Hill Bend.
Lovenberrys exit left Horne free to pressure the second place Foden machine of Garry George, but just as the pair were side-by-side the race was red flagged due to Jim Bennett crashing into the gravel at Clearways.
After an early wobble at Paddock, Steven Powell finished fourth in his Ford Cargo, although the West Kingsdown driver was forced to defend hard from a charging David Ball in fifth posision.
After a dramatic clash with Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere in race one yesterday, Elton Boocock's Seddon Atkinson charged through from the back of the grid to secure an impressive sixth place.
The Volvo of Adam Atkins took seventh place, whilst second West Kingsdown racer Oscar Clarke turned in one of his strongest performances of the season to scoop eighth position.
